About Melia Publishing Services

Melia Publishing Services Ltd was started in 1992 by Terry Melia to provide sales and distribution services to English language publishers, both British and American.

With 25 years' sales experience and having spotted the opportunity of creating an efficient sales and distribution company for publishers who did not have their own UK-based operation, Terry took on his first client, Stewart, Tabori and Chang, swiftly followed by Workman Publishing. Terry immediately saw the potential of Workman's distinctive style for the UK and was appointed UK distributor in 1995. This was the beginning of a great relationship which laid the foundations for the successful operation Melia Publishing Services is today, with Macmillan US, Penguin Young Readers US, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Cider Mill Press and Willow Creek Press adding to the portfolio of world class publishers we represent.

In the last twenty five years the company's client base has expanded considerably and the number of titles distributed by Melia is now in excess of 5,000. A wealth of top-quality imprints enables Melia to specialise in virtually every conceivable general trade market, with bestselling titles as diverse as Star Wars Origami, 1000 Places to See Before You Die, On the Night You Were Born, Forks Over Knives and The Kinfolk Home.

All Melia titles are distributed through Grantham Book Services whose warehousing, distribution, invoicing and collection is second to none. Sales are handled by two full-time Key Account Managers and a team of seven free-lance field agents covering the whole of the UK and Ireland.
