From the poetry of Robert Frost to classic works by Robert Louis Stevenson, Erich Fromm, and Norman Mailer, Henry Holt and Company has, for almost a century and a half, published writers that define their era and endure far beyond it. Founded in 1866 by Henry Holt and Frederick Leypoldt, Henry Holt is one of the oldest trade publishers in the US. Today the company continues to build upon its illustrious history by publishing bestselling, award-winning books in the areas of literary fiction, mysteries and thrillers, history, biography, politics, current events, science, psychology, and books for children and young adults.
Papercutz
Papercutz, a new graphic novel publishing company for tweens 8-14, launched in the Spring of 2005 with the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. With writers Scott Lobdell and Stefan Petrucha, and artists such as Lulu Award winner Lea Hernandez and Sho Murase on board, these classic characters are poised to make an impact in the exploding graphic novel market. "With the years of experience we have in graphic novels, I don't think anyone can accuse us of hopping on the bandwagon," founder and president Terry Nantier says. Nantier is a thirty-year veteran of the comics industry and noted pioneer of the graphic novel form in the US. "We're focusing on the tween market with Papercutz. This is truly a huge market. As you know, Nancy Drew was recently given a big relaunch by Simon & Schuster, with the introduction of an all-new Nancy Drew series, bringing the original girl detective into our modern world. It's a major success - with the first book landing on the New York Times best-seller list."
